What causes Gallstones?
Cholesterol stones: It is formed when bile contain too much cholesterol,too much bilirubin,or not enough bile salt,or when the gallbladder does not empty completely or often enough. Pigment stones: Causes of this type of stone is not fully known.It tends to develop in people who have liver cirrhosis,biliary tract infections, or hereditary blood disorders. Sex: Women are more prone to formation of gallstones than men(2:1). Especially women who are pregnant, using hormone replacement therapy, or taking birth control pills. Age: People over age 60. Rapid weight loss.
